The people of Superiorland

Racchimuskillingum plays the drums during the opening day of the Hiawatha Music Festival. His drumming stood out from the sounds of hundreds of people setting up camp sights and preparing for the weekend. It was a solitary almost organized sound as it cut through the chaos. He was selling handmade drums, covers for the instruments and other items. Racchimuskillingum is a self-chosen name. He noted that it might be too complicated for a simple conversation to cover what the name means or why he chose it. He said he has been coming to the festival for years, and enjoys listening to the music and meeting new people. (Journal photo by Lisa Bowers)
