SAWYER AIR FORCE BASE- The Department of Defense has established a new policy at military bases targeted for closure that permits local conversion authorities to retain much of the equipment at the bases for future civilian use. Within this new DOD directive, local conversion authorities would not be allowed to retain such things as classified equipment and weapons. Local groups would have one year from the time they receive the inventory to decide which assets to retain.

MARQUETTE — Contract to provide 900 feet of chain link fencing and one walk gate, to be erected to Park Cemetery, Marquette was awarded to Cyclone Fence Co. of Green Bay by the Marquette City Commission this week. The new fencing and gate will be erected this fall. A portion of the new fence will parallel W. Bluff St. and 250 feet will extend the fence installed previously along N. Seventh St.
