Rock and mineral club to meet
ISHPEMING — The Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club will be meet at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Cliff Shaft Mine Museum, 501 W. Euclid Str., Ishpeming.
Scott Markert, one of the Founders of the Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club (along with his parents, Bob and Marian Markert) will speak on “The History of Rock Collecting in the Upper Peninsula with the Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club — 1950s, 1960s and the 1970s.” Scott will show what mines the club collected at in those early days and the specimens they collected over those years.
Doors will open at 1 p.m. to allow members and visitors time to bid on silent auction specimens and to view the club’s mineral collection.
Scott will begin his presentation at 1:30 p.m. A door prize drawing, a 50/50 drawing and a business meeting will follow the program.
Everyone is welcome to attend, enjoy, and learn about the wonders of rocks and minerals. There is no admission charged.
