We recently got some great new teen books in the Teen Zone; here are a few of them!

"House of Roots and Ruin" by Erin Craig

In the second book of Sisters of the Salt series we find the focus of the book on Verity, the youngest of the Thaumas sisters who survived the events of the first book. Verity longs for adventure beyond the Salann shores but has been kept home her entire life. One day the Duchess of Bloem sends Verity an invitation to paint her son's portrait, she jumps at the chance, but Camille refuses and tells her that she cannot leave the island due, Verity sees ghosts, but does not realize it. Surprised and stunned Verity flees her home and makes her way to Bloem, only to realize Bloem has its own secrets.

"The Honeys" by Ryan LaSala

Mars and Caroline are twins, but Mars has been in the shadow of Caroline. That is until Caroline dies a horrific death and Mars wants to know the truth of what happened. Caroline attended the Aspen Conservancy Summer Academy, but Mars, being gender fluid, never fit into the traditions of this summer camp. Mars decides to take Caroline's place for the rest of the summer to figure out what changed her so much and how it is all connected to her death.

"You're Not Supposed to Die Tonight" by Kalynn Bayron

Charity works at Camp Mirror Lake, and has her dream job of being a "Final Girl", the girl who survives. Here guests pay to be scared in a full contact terror game, as Charity and her crew recreate scenes from the slasher film The Curse of Camp Mirror Lake. It is the final weekend of the season and co-workers are starting to disappear, and all of a sudden being the final girls becomes too real. If Charity and her friends hope to survive, they will need to figure out the bloody history of the real Mirror Lake.

"Funeral Songs for Dying Girls" by Cherie Dimaline

Living in apartment above the cemetery office and close to her mother's grave is the only life Winifred has known, but rumor has it that her father's job maybe outsourced soon. Winifred has a habit of wandering the cemetery at night, causing rumors of the grounds to be haunted. Now tourist are flocking to cemetery to see the ghost of Winterson Cemetery. But all is changed when Phil, a real ghost appears and now Winifred begins to question everything she believes about life, love and death.

"Unexpecting" by Jen Bailey

Ben is about to start his junior year of high school with his best friends and the robotics club, until an experiment at science camp goes wrong and all of sudden Ben finds out he is going to be a father. His mom is shocked, not only did recently come out as gay, but that he wants to raise the baby as a single father. As the year goes on Ben's grades slip, his friendships crack and pressure rises to keep a job. Can Ben make the right decision for himself and his soon-to-be baby?
