MARQUETTE — This year’s campaign co-chairs for the United Way of Marquette County have been announced.

Alyson Sundberg and Megan O’Connor are this year’s co-chairs for UWMC’s 2023-24 season.

Sundberg is the market director of risk management for UP Health System Marquette/Bell/Portage. She has been working with UP Health Systems for 24 years and has worked with emergency medical services in Marquette County for over 30 years.

She is originally from the Ishpeming area and has participated in a variety of service clubs and local organizations.

“Watching all of the people in our community contribute their time through Yoopers United or their donations to the various partners within the United Way of Marquette County is so humbling,” Sundberg said in a press release. “The amount of care and concern shared is beautiful knowing that everyone is working towards making life a better place for so many.”

O’Connor is the outreach and development specialist at the Lake Superior Community Partnership. She received her bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Northern Michigan University.

In her free time, she likes to work and volunteer. When she’s not at LSCP, she works at a local news station as a news contributor, Southshore Fishing Association as the marketing coordinator and at St. Peter Cathedral as a cantor.

According to the press release, O’Connor actively participates in Connect Marquette, the Marquette County Veteran Alliance and loves volunteering for Marquette County-wide events.

“Serving the Marquette community is an honor and a privilege and, as the youngest UWMC campaign co-chair, I am excited to be a part of the United Way campaign for the 2023-24 season,” O’Connor said in the press release.

Sundberg and O’Connor have set a campaign goal of $400,000. They will visit local workplaces throughout the fall to encourage donations and provide information about the local impact of donations in the community.
