On the Ground to focus on grouse site
GARDEN — The Michigan United Conservation Clubs’ On the Ground program will include an Aug. 26 event at the Garden Grade Grouse Enhancement Management Site in Delta County.
Participants will plant about 100 masting trees and shrubs throughout three openings in the Garden Grade GEMS.
Volunteers will be needed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Participants are to meet at the Garden Corners Park and Ride in Cooks at about 9:45 a.m. to sign in. A caravan then will lead to the work site.
A lunch and volunteer appreciation gift will be given to participants.
The purpose of the project is to establish soft mast that will benefit various species of wildlife, including grouse, deer and turkey.
