MARQUETTE -- The United Way of Marquette County along with Yoopers United is putting out a call for volunteers.
Yoopers United is currently running a Summer Volunteer Program, which gives those wanting to help the community a chance to win prizes for volunteering at one of the many events that are planned around the area this summer.
Those looking to volunteer can start today, as the Great Lakes Recovery Centers' Run for Recovery kicks off this evening, with volunteers still being sought.
"There are so many ways to get involved in our community," said Executive Director of United Way of Marquette County Andrew Rickauer. "United Way and Yoopers United help to share many of the ways to get involved, and (with) the needs we have in our community, there is something for everyone."
Yoopers United has several other opportunities for volunteering beyond the Run For Recovery, with volunteers needed for events like the Ore to Shore Mountain Bike Epic, which is slated for Aug. 12 or the 19th annual Marquette Blues Fest, which is scheduled for Sept. 1-3.
Yoopers United, created by United Way of Marquette County, aims to make the community a better place. The organization matches volunteers with events or programs that fit their interests, skill sets and schedules.
More information about the organization, including contact information for those who are interested in volunteering, can be found at www.yoopersunited.com.
