West Health Foundation awards grants

ISHPEMING, — Several area organizations got a boost from the West End Health Foundation’s Spring Capital Grant.
The WEHF held a check presentation for the spring grant awardees and School Grant awardees in May. According to a press release, the amount of funding for the Spring Capital Grants increased from $30,000 to $50,000 and doubled for the School Grants from $50,000 to $100,000.
The Board of Directors presented the following Spring Capital Grants and School Grantees with a check presentation:
≤City of Negaunee received $10,000 for Lacombe Field Universal Access

≤County of Marquette -Rescue 131 received $8,000 for Kevlar vests and helmets
≤Courage Incorporated received $10,000 for the purchase of a box truck
≤Marquette County Habitat for Humanity received $10,000 for their ramp program
≤Partridge Creek Farm received $5,700 for the build-out of farm produce cooler,
≤Kiwanis Club of Ishpeming received $2,000 for Ray Leverton Memorial Playground

≤The Upper Peninsula Luge Club received $4,300 for Lucy Hill safety and security
≤NICE Community School District received $25,000 for health and wellness improvements
≤Ishpeming Public School District received $25,000 for student mental health support
≤Negaunee Public Schools received $25,000 for a district health coordinator
≤Republic-Michigamme Schools received $25,000 for mental health rescue.
