NCLL to hold presentation on fraud next week

MARQUETTE — The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will present a program on fraud from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday in Northern Michigan University’s Mead Auditorium.

Michigan State Police Trooper Tom Kinnunen has worked 15 years investigating various types of crimes, including fraud and larceny and has learned techniques to identify the suspect(s) and hold them accountable in the criminal justice system.

The ways criminals execute their activity is always changing, and Kinnunen hopes to share his experience and knowledge with participants to create awareness, and ensure safety and security.

Banker Jannette Hansen helps customers recover in the event of fraud. She wants to help people become more familiar with common internet dangers and common phone and mail scams to avoid.

Hansen will give participants tips on how to prevent fraud and how to recover from fraud.

The cost is $5 for NCLL members/$10 non-members.

Event liaison Mike OSullivan can be reached at 906-250-9492 or at mosullivan@upfirst.com.
