City band concert set

MARQUETTE — The Marquette City Band, conducted by Stephen Grugin, will present a concert titled “Popular Then and Now” at 7:30 p.m. at the Presque Isle Band Shell.

An arrangement of early hits by The Beatles will be highlighted, and the trombone section will be featured on “Ramblin’ Around,” by the late Eino Olander of Marquette.

Other selections on the program will include: “La Peri Fanfare” by Paul Dukas, “Autumn Leaves” by Joseph Kosma, “Rhapsody On An Old English Sea Song” by Stuart Johnson, “Blue Mambo” by Michael Sweeney,

“The World Is Waiting For the Sunrise” by Harry L. Alford and “The Gathering of Eagles” by Bob Baker.

The concert is free but donations are appreciated. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held at Northern Michigan University’s Reynolds Recital Hall.
