UPHS releases community report

MARQUETTE -- UP Health System-Marquette has published its community benefit report for the 2022 calendar year. UP Health System-Marquette's 2022 community benefit report highlights its continued efforts to meet the growing health care needs of its community through welcoming new providers, adding and expanding service lines and continually investing in its facilities and healthcare technology. For example, in 2022, UP Health System-Marquette added 59 providers in various specialties and made around $2.55 million in capital improvements, including technological advancements in robotic and orthopedic surgery, and neurosurgery. Additionally, UP Health System-Marquette donated nearly $13.2 million in health services to those in need. In 2022, the hospital distributed more than $158.9 million in salaries, wages and benefits for its approximately 1,600 employees, while contributing to professional development and tuition assistance. Last year, the organization paid $23,099,297 in local and state taxes, while continuing its support of local activities and organizations committed to serving the region, including the Lake Superior Community Partnership, Community Foundation of Marquette County, YMCA of Marquette County, Steve Mariucci Family Beacon House, Trillium House and Operation Action UP.
