ISHPEMING – The Ishpeming City Council will spend up to $38,000 to install restroom and shower facilities at the city playground. The $70,000 restroom addition, commonly known as the blue building, already has sewer lines and electrical hookups. It was built two years ago using donations, state grants, city funds and Ishpeming Public Schools funds, said Dick Burke recreation superintendent. Officials will add showers, toilets and a heated floor. The building sits between four baseball fields, the school football field, track, and tennis courts. It will be available for the general public and as a change house for school athletes. The city received $5,000 from the school district, $4,500 from the state and $1,000 from the Ishpeming Booster’s Club to complete the building.
