REPUBLIC – Ben Mykkanen, president of the Republic Board of Education and W. J. McClintock, superintendent of schools, laid the date stone for the new Republic Central School being constructed in South Republic. Representatives of the contracting firms and a few residents turned out for the occasion. The new Republic school building is slated for completion by Jan. 15, 1964 at a total cost of $908,000. Good weather has enabled the contractors to progress rapidly with construction. All of the footings and foundation walls have been completed. The building will accommodate 500 students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
