Resurfacing begins on Friday

MARQUETTE -- As part of an ongoing city street improvement project, Payne & Dolan Inc., will begin asphalt resurfacing on Friday.

The process involves milling the existing asphalt surfaces followed by repaving. The following streets are included in the project:

≤ Lakeshore Boulevard, Ridge Street to Michigan Street;

≤ Magnetic Street, Seventh Street to Eighth Street;

≤ Michigan Street, High Street to Spruce Street;

≤ Lincoln Avenue, Bluff Street to Jefferson Street;

≤ Longyear Avenue, Wright Street to Union Street;

≤ Fourth Street, Washington Street to Arch Street;

≤ Division Street, Hampton Street to Joliet Road (patching);

≤ Altamont Street, Mesnard Street to Craig Street (patching);

≤ Altamont Street, Blemhuber Street to Genesee Street (patching);

≤ Fourth Street, Ohio Street to College Avenue; and

≤ the intersection of Washington and Third streets (patching).

Milling is scheduled for June 16-21 while paving is scheduled for June 26-30.

Work will be between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. or as needed. Vehicular and pedestrian access to homes will be maintained. The work will be completed by means of short duration road closures, road detours and flag control. The public is urged to use extreme caution and follow all traffic-control measures.
