New at Peter White Public Library

3 min read

Summer is finally here! Grab your sunscreen, wide brimmed hat, favorite book and head to the beach. Here is a short list of my favorite beach reads for this summer, all which can be found on the shelves of your very own Peter White Public Library!

"The Five-Star Weekend" by Elin Hilderbrand

When I think of beach reads I think of Elin Hilderbrand. Her stories take almost always to Nantucket Island with complex characters and stories that make you feel like you have lived them yourself. "The Five-Star weekend" is no exception. When a popular food blogger's husband dies suddenly in a car crash, life as she knows it comes to a halt. As she begins to navigate a new normal she is intrigued by an idea of a Five-Star Weekend filled with friends from each chapter of her life. Come along as Elin tells the stories of motherhood, friendship & love as only Elin can.

"Saturday Night at the Lakeside Supper Club" by J. Ryan Stradal

"This novel is the story of Mariel and Ned, a couple from two very different restaurant families in rustic Minnesota, and the legacy of love and tragedy, of hardship and hope, that unites and divides them" Four generations of families, mothers and daughters have weathered the storms of the Lakeside Supper Club. Stradal will take us all on a journey of changing times, empathy, humor and building your own identity when coming up though and 80 year family business. Be sure to check this one out before heading to the beach!

"All the Days of Summer" by Nancy Thayer

Heather has seems to have a good life, her husband runs his own business that will someday be taken over by their only son Ross, who is graduating from college and getting serious with his girlfriend. However, with a marriage that has now fizzled and a son who's moving on, is this the life Heather really wants? Ready to seek her own happiness and find herself again she leaves her husband and moves to Nantucket. It was a perfect plan until it was announced that her son is also moving there to work at his Girlfriend's family business instead of working for his father. This novel has it all from heartbreak to unending love that explores the complexity of family and the unexpected way fate can guide you forward.
