Man, 47, man drowns in Wisconsin lake

WAUSAUKEE, Wis. — A 47-year-old man from Kaukauna, Wisconsin, drowned in a lake on Saturday afternoon, Marinette County (Wis.) Sheriff Randy Miller reported.
Miller said in a news release that at 3:58 p.m. Saturday, Marinette County Dispatch received a call of a possible drowning in Butterfly Lake in Wausaukee.
Fire and rescue personnel as well as sheriff’s deputies responded to the location.
The first deputy on the scene entered the water and assisted others in recovering the subject, John Van Rossum, and immediately administered CPR until rescue arrived.
Van Rossum was transported to the Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area in Marinette where he was later pronounced dead.
Van Rossum had been swimming when he called for help and went under.
The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wausaukee Fire Department, Wausaukee Rescue and Aurora Bay Area Medical Center paramedics.
The Middle Inlet Fire Department dive team also was called out but was canceled prior to arrival.
