ISHPEMING — To celebrate Ishpeming’s 150th anniversary, the Ishpeming Area Historical Society will have events starting June 25.

Kicking off the events, the ‘Historic Home Tour’ fundraiser at the Mather Inn will be held at noon on June 25.

The fundraiser will have an extensive tour and behind-the-scenes look at the historic Mather Inn. Attendees will see back passageways, the kitchen, multiple apartments and more, according to the Ishpeming Area Historical Society’s press release.

Each ticket is a $10 donation and two blocks southeast at Bethel Lutheran, attendees can have refreshments and learn the history of the church.

An anniversary showing of “Anatomy of a Murder” will take place at 6:30 p.m. on June 29 at Peterson Auditorium. Admission is free with donations being accepted.

Curated items from Northern Michigan University for viewing will be in the lobby with guest speakers before the screening.

Parking and entrance to the auditorium is on Pearl Street.

The Ishpeming Cemetery Tours will have its kickoff tour on June 30 at 3 p.m. Attendees will be able to learn more about some of Ishpeming’s citizens including Fredrick Braastad, John W. Jochim and AA Anderson.

Regular tours began on Tuesday and continue through August every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Attendees are asked to meet at Ishpeming Cemetery sexton’s office. Walking tours take about one hour and are canceled if it rains. There is a $10 donation for adults, $5 for students ages 12-17 and free for children under 12.

On Fridays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Ishpeming Area Historical Society Museum located on the third floor of the Gossard Building will be open. Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to contact the Ishpeming Area Historical Society.
