Escanaba Public Safety puts out dryer fire

ESCANABA — Escanaba Public Safety extinguished a dryer fire in in the 600 block of South 14th Street in Escanaba on Wednesday.

EPS said in a news release that it responded to the address at 6:28 p.m. on a report of a possible structure fire. Officers arrived on the scene and found the house filling with smoke, originating from the basement area.

Officers discovered that the source of the smoke was coming from a dryer in the basement, with the contents having caught fire. The fire was contained within the dryer with no further extension or damage.

EPS was assisted by Delta County Central Dispatch, the city of Escanaba Electrical Department, DTE Energy and Rampart EMS.
