MARQUETTE — A new computer repair service is available in the Upper Peninsula, but it’s owned by a familiar face.

Computer Whiz Solutions announced technology services to fix your computer at client’s homes or businesses.

The mobile computer repair service offers a wide range of computer support for residential and business computer needs.

“No need to haul your computer, we come to you to save you time and money and if we can’t fix it we can’t charge for it,” said CWS owner and technician Tony Hamalainen.

Hamalainen said he started the first at home service computer repair services in Marquette in 1997. His company was one of the first computer companies to install cable modems for Bresnan Communications prior to a Charter Communications takeover.

Charter Communications used Hamalainen’s company for the technical support of its clients throughout the Upper Peninsula for a period following the change in ownership.

Then, in 2003 Tony started a second computer company called MiUplink out of Marquette. The firm supplied wireless internet to clients who couldn’t connect to the Charter Communications infrastructure.

The company was sold to a different business and is still in operation today. Hamalainen has been out of the repair business for health reasons since 2014.

Now he said he’s back and is “excited to let you know he’ll be fixing computer problems again and at your site.”

Starting at $3.23/week.
