MARQUETTE — To John Rebers of Marquette, the Little Presque Isle shoreline is a perfect natural setting. To others, however it’s a convenient garbage dump. Rebers is a member of the Central Upper Peninsula Group of the Sierra Club. He and 25 other volunteers. Spent more than four hours Sunday collecting garbage and refuse dumped into the woods near the picturesque state recreation area on County Road 550. Items hauled from the site included car seats, bed springs, a stove, an old-fashioned wringer washer, carpet, and enough other garbage to fill a truck supplied by the Department of Natural Resources. The Little Presque Isle effort capped a busy weekend for spring-cleaners in the Marquette area.
