NEGAUNEE -- Negaunee City Manager Nate Heffron has announced a community contributions grants program for nonprofits for 2023.

The city will be accepting applications for the program until May 19.

Qualifications for the program include:

≤ Must be a nonprofit organization within city limits of Negaunee

≤ Funds must be expended to help the overall organization or public at large (cannot be for an individual)

≤ Cannot have received this grant the year prior

According to the program's press release, in total over $33 million have been given through this program since 2006.

"This is a great way to give back to our local non-profits," Heffron said. "They are the backbone (of) our community."

Funding for the program comes from the not-for-profit wholesale power provider and joint action agency WPPI Energy, which Negaunee is a member-owner.

A copy of 2023's community contributions grants program can be obtained at the city utilities department at city hall or online at cityofnegaunee.com.
