Gov. appoints Marana

MARQUETTE — Lee Marana of Marquette has been appointed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to the Michigan Health Information Technology Commission.

Marana is the manager of health information exchange and informatics at Upper Peninsula Managed Care, LLC. Marana is also adjunct professor of health informatics at the University of Denver and president of the Michigan Healthcare Information Management Systems Society.

He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master of business administration from Michigan Technological University. Marana was appointed to represent the health information technology field for a expiring Aug. 3, 2026. He succeeds James VanderMey.

The appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Michigan Senate.
