MARQUETTE — Marquette’s Bishop Baraga Central evened the score from an earlier loss, Friday, as the Royals gunned down Negaunee St. Paul, 51-39. The Royals had been dubbed at Negaunee, early this season and the Emeralds had suffered only one loss going into last night’s affair. Each team hit on 34 percent of its shots, with Bishop Baraga getting the extra tries on a 34-31 rebounding edge. Bill Kessel, showing little effect from a sprained ankle, was outstanding for the Royals, scoring 21 points and bringing down 19 rebounds. Hustling Bernie Olds came up with one of his finest games to date, scoring 13 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Richie Balmes did a good defensive job on Dominic Jacobetti. Both teams played rather cautious ball, opening up only near the end of the game. St. Paul efforts were hampered when Lonnie St. Aubin drew three quick fouls trying to stop Kessel. He sat out much of the game, while the Royals outscored the Emeralds in every period. Baraga Central is at Champion Wednesday. St. Paul hosts Eben Tuesday.
