Spelling bee winners move on
GWINN — Eight Gwinn Area Community Schools’ students will advance to the Regional Spelling Bee on Feb. 16 at Marquette Senior High School after placing in the top two in four grade levels in its recent district spelling bee.
The top two finishers in fifth grade were Khia Carter, first, and Jake Rolph, second. Ava Murray won the sixth grade category, while Madison Kovarik was runner-up.
Riley Hare won the seventh grade category, with William Browning placing second. Among the eighth graders, Sophia Redlon placed first, with Emery Holmes in second.
