MARQUETTE — The Marquette Country Convention and Visitors Bureau is hosting Michigan Travel Bureau Director Tom Altemus and five members of his staff on a winter familiarization tour today through Friday. The tour is designed to acquaint the state tourism marketing organization with the attractions, facilities and events available for winter visitors to the Marquette area. While on tour, the staff will participate in Alpine skiing at Marquette Mountain, a snowmobile trail grooming demonstration, sled dog rides and tobogganing and tour the city of Maquette, the U.S. National Ski Hall of Fame in Ishpeming and Northern Michigan University’s Superior Dome.

NEGAUNEE — A former cashier of the Negaunee State Bank yesterday was bound over to circuit court here on charges of embezzling funds of the bank. Several weeks ago, when he was arraigned on a warrant charging him with embezzling $20,000, he demanded an examination, but yesterday his attorney informed the justice that his client had decided to waive. He is at liberty under $20,000 bonds. Yesterday afternoon he was arraigned on five additional warrants charging criminal offenses ranging from falsification of records to embezzlement of bank funds and defrauding the bank.
