MARQUETTE — A training program to help improve the quality of legal representation in Upper Peninsula courts will be conducted Jan. 24 to 26 in the federal district court in Marquette. The annual Hillman Advocacy Program, once known as the Trial Skills Workshop, will provide intensive guidance and training on proper direct examination, cross-examination, and other courtroom skills. Twenty of the top trial lawyers in the state will instruct.

IRONWOOD — With “Return the Farmer’s Dollar to Its True Value” as its theme, the sixth annual Tri-State Dairy congress will convene in Ironwood on March 18. Preliminary plans for the congress, at which the dairying interests of the states of Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin will be represented, were announced here yesterday by Russel Horwood, extension dairyman, who is a member of the executive committee. The Association of Commerce of Ironwood has agreed to act as hosts for the congress, tendering the noon-day dinner and absorbing the incidental expenses in connection with the staging of the congress.
