SANDS — Sands Township residents are invited to help plan a new township hall complex. “We’re looking for some input on the project from the citizens, and also to organize a building committee,” said township Trustee David Kallio. Kallio said the township hopes to consolidate its offices, fire department and emergency medical services in one site that could include a recreational facility.

MARQUETTE — Telethon producers throughout the nation will be watching the March of Dimes telethon to be staged over WLUC-TV this weekend. The Marquette telethon is making use of IBM machines, a “first” in the telethon field. The IBM machines will give an accurate running total of pledges by county and any other necessary statistical information throughout the 18-hour telethon. After the telethon is over, the machines will also give a complete file of pledges and else the clerical load for mailing.
