ISHPEMING — A proposed merger between the Ishpeming Chamber of Commerce and the Negaunee Irontown Community Association was pitched Saturday Night by the chamber’s new president. The 520-member Negaunee Irontown Community Association will discuss and possibly vote on the proposal during its annual dinner Saturday in Negaunee. The chamber, which is sending out ballots to its 190 members, will answer questions and discuss the merger Jan 10 at the U.S. National Ski Hall of Fame and Museum in Ishpeming.
Other changes during 1993 include expanding Memory Weekend into Memory Week. This year’s event, which includes the parade of cars, the classic car show, and a sock-hop.

MARQUETTE — Upper Peninsula civic, fraternal and community organizations interested in promoting participation in winter recreation are invited to conduct public or private showings of a new sound film, “Michigan Winter Wonderland.” Ken Slater Hulbert, president, announced that the Upper Michigan Tourist Association has obtained the film through cooperation of the Rev. Louis Cappo Ramsey, chairman of the Michigan Tourist Council, and that it would be loaned without charge to responsible U.P. organizations.
Interested groups can write the EMTA office in Marquette regarding the film. First public showing of this winter sports movie, produced for the Tourist Council, is scheduled for 9:30 Sunday night, when it will be seen over WLUC-TV. All forms of recreational events, including skiing and ice fishing, are presented in the film, a large part of which contains activities shot in the peninsula.
