MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Board, meeting as a committee of the whole, has recommended the board buy a used computer for 96th District Court. The full board will vote Tuesday on whether to buy a terminal, cable, and a one-year maintenance contract for $956. The equipment would be used by the probation officer to manage a caseload of about 275 people per month. The funds would be diverted from a $743 balance in a court fund for typewriters.

The remaining $213 would be transferred from the county’s fax machine line item.

ISHPEMING — “Pops” is back! Your reporter, hunting with a friend, Walter Walsh of Ishpeming, Saturday afternoon, saw a surprised and thankful hunter return home later on during the day even though he hadn’t fired a shot. While hunting in the North Greenwood area with one dog, who was fast on the heels of a “bunny,” the high pitced yowl of another hound was hear. Minutes later, out came a small beagle hound, close on the trail of another rabbit. A second look by Walsh caused him to let out a howl himself, as it was his beagle, which had been lost for more than two months.

Starting at $3.23/week.
