NMU to stage holiday program

MARQUETTE — Northern Michigan University Theatre & Dance will present A Holiday Double Feature: “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and “The Nutcracker” Friday and Saturday and Dec. 14-17.

The evening opens with a feel-good, 30-minute musical based on the beloved classic animated television special and closes with excerpts from the timeless ballet. Show times are at 7:30 p.m., with an additional 1 p.m. matinee on Saturday.

In “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang discover the true meaning of the holiday. The production features favorite tunes from the 1965 special. After intermission, a cast of fantastical characters, including the “Sugar Plum Fairy” and the “Nutcracker” himself, will perform excerpts from the holiday favorite ballet to the score by Tchaikovsky.

Tickets are $17 for the general public, $12 for NMU faculty and staff, $10 for students and $5 for NMU students. They can be purchased at https://nmu.universitytickets.com/.
