The volunteer crew for the Ishpeming Community Christmas Dinner served a total of 851 meals on Sunday.
Volunteer drivers were able to deliver 571 meals, going as far as 30 miles away despite challenging weather and road conditions. The crew also provided 160 takeout dinners and an additional 120 diners ate at the Elks Lodge in Ishpeming, according to organizer Dawn Lambert.
The meal included turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green beans, roll, cranberries and dessert. Lambert said she applies for grants from the National Elks Foundation to fund the dinners, plus she solicits funds from local businesses.
