ISHPEMING — Ishpeming police are warning area youth that patrols will be beefed up to combat egg throwing this Halloween season. Det. Sgt. Jim Bjorne said minor injuries have resulted from egg throwing this year. An 11-year-old girl was hit last week, he said, adding that in 1989, a passenger fell out of a pickup truck when the driver swerved after being hit in the face by an egg. Anyone caught throwing eggs or other objects at cars or people will be arrested for littering, Bjorne warned. Those caught who are 17 or older will be issued an appearance ticket and will later appear in district court. Those under 17 will be petioned into juvenile court.

ISHPEMING — Alfred Lindberg and Sons, Ishpeming road building contractors, have moved their equipment to Iron county where they will start work soon on the Ottawa national forest road. It is probable that from 75 to 100 men will be employed half-time on the project, which will require several months to complete. Under the federal plan two crews will be employed, each working one 30-hour week every second week. The crews will be picked from the Iron county unemployment list and they will work for the duration of that job. The road, which is the second that Lindberg & Sons have had contracts for in that district, will extend from Elmwood north to meet the road completed this summer from the Houghton County line south to Paint Lake.
