MARQUETTE — Registrations have topped 1,000 for a three-day mathematics and science conference for educators from throughout the Midwest that begins today at Northern Michigan University. “We have over 200 speakers coming from across the country and a wide array of workshops and demonstrations,” said Dr. Don Zalewski, a math professor and conference spokesman. “I think this is one of the most outstanding conference programs for math and science educators that we’ve had on campus for quite some time.” Bringing teachers from kindergarten through college to the NMU campus is a joint conference of the national School Science and Mathematics Association and the Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics. NMU’s nationally recognized Glenn T. Seaborg Center for Teaching and Learning Science and Mathematics is sponsoring the event.
