Hurley Field Celebration

MARQUETTE– Rotary invites youth and interested adults to celebrate the completion of the Hurley Playground renovation. Ice cream and hot chocolate will highlight the party planned for Tuesday, Oct. 4 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“This project speaks to the power of community”, stated Sally Davis, a board member of Marquette Rotary and the project lead. “Our initial ice cream fund raiser set out to purchase a swing set. The response from the community was overwhelming, and soon we realized we could do so much more.”

Contributions from Marquette Rotary clubs were match by community members, local foundations, businesses, BLP, and the international Rotary Foundation. The ciy contributed in-kind services for the build.

“What was once an outdated and dilapidated playground is now a center for play in the area, “said Erica Huss, Marquette Rotary president. “We hope the youth of our area will come to enjoy the play and ice cream.”

Hurley Park is located at 240 Mesnard St. in south Marquette.
