MARQUETTE — Chris Limback and George Trujillo will hit the Marquette Golf and Country Club links today tied for the lead in President’s Cup tournament action after one day of play. Limback and Trujillo are atop the standings after finishing Saturday’s round with a net score of 65. Rob Reinert, who shot a 67, is currently in second, while Bob Christian, Dave Allan and Willard Koski are third with 68. Connie Tonkin holds the women’s lead with a low net score of 73. Jayne Zorza and Lee Welden are tied for second at 78. Tonkin also turned in the women’s low gross round with a 93, followed by Jan Hruska, who shot a 95. In men’s low gross competition, Rich Koskey’s round of 68 put him in first place. Craig Leadbetter finished second in the low gross category with a 72 followed by Gary Sharp’s 74, and Scott Erickson’s 76.

ISHPEMING — Featured in tonight’s Ishpeming city band concert, the seventh of the summer, will be the trombone trio of Charles Smith, Ray Leverton and Wiliam Trebilcock. They will play “Slippery Gentlemen” by Harold Walters. The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Miner’s First National Bank parking lot. A highlight of the program will be selections from “South Pacific,” by Rodgers and Hammerstein. Included will be “Some Enchanted Evening,” “A Wonderful Guy,” “Bali Ha’i,” and “There Is Nothing Like a Dame.” Also on the program will be “The First Swedish Rhapsody,” by Erik Leidzen and “El Capitan,” by John Philip Souza. The bank will present a Main Street concert Thursday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. for the Crazy Days promotion.
