MARQUETTE — Marquette General Hospital’s Gift Shop has doubled in size now that it’s located in the hospital’s new addition. Operated by the MGH Auxiliary, the shop is on the first floor near the main lobby in the North Building. “When we started we were a two-person operation. Two primary people did the bookwork and bough merchandise, while a few volunteers worked when the shop was open in the afternoons,” said Jonnine Rumney, shop coordinator. The shop now has 10 buyers and bookkeepers, and nearly 70 volunteers. The shop also has a new computerized inventory and checkout system, as well as a large storage area and workroom adjacent to the store.

ISHPEMING — The E.A. Johnson company’s remodeled food store at the corner of Bank and First streets will be opened today. Employees of the company were busy yesterday rearranging stock and making other preparations for the opening. The floor and display layout of the store has been changed so that all departments are easily accessible to customers. The general office is located in the center of the store and the main office in the rear. A complete line of fresh and smoked meats has been added and an attractive market provided. The meats are displayed in a mechanical refrigerated display case, one of the first fixtures of its kind to be installed here. William Johnson, who recently completed a course in meat cutting at the Milwaukee Vocational Training College, will be in charge of the meat department and will be assisted by competent butchers.
