Lions Park skating rink open

MARQUETTE — The skating rink at Lions Park in Marquette Township now is open, the township announced.

Users are asked to follow all Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention COVID-19 requirements.

The warming building will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily No alcohol or controlled substances are allowed on this, or any other, township-owned property.

Rink use hours are 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily. Hockey sticks and pucks are allowed on the ice all day on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday; and 1 p.m. to closing on Sunday. Hockey sticks and pucks are not allowed on ice all day on Tuesday and Thursday, 1 p.m. to closing on Saturday and 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.

Slap shots or checking are not allowed at any time. Sticks and pucks, or any variation of, may not be used anywhere other than on the ice rink.

Skaters/visitors are expected to clean up any refuse and place it in the provided container. No motorized equipment, snow machines, all-terrain vehicles or animals are allowed on the ice or on the adjacent property.

Ignoring these rules will result in further restricted ice rink use. Visitors are urged to self-enforce or report a violation to Marquette Township at 906-228-6220.

Violators may be subject to citation/ticketing and fine.

The ice rink is dependent on the weather, and changes in ice quality might result in a temporary shutdown. Check www.marquettetownship.org for updates.
