Parade, tree lighting tonight

MARQUETTE — The annual holiday parade and tree lighting will take place in downtown Marquette tonight.

This year marks the 11th year for the parade, and 46th year for the tree lighting. Both are put on by the Marquette Downtown Development Authority.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m. at the corner of North Third Street and Fair Avenue and will proceed down Third Street ending at the Marquette Commons building. The parade will feature floats and decorated vehicles. Letters to Santa are being collected by the United States Postal Service, which Santa will respond to as long as the letter has a return address.

The tree lighting will take place following the conclusion of the parade at 7 p.m. at the Marquette Commons building. Santa will be available outside during the tree lighting for pictures.
