MARQUETTE — Local florist, Forsberg’s A New Leaf, will be coming under new ownership. And while the new owner is not a Forsberg, the name will still live on.

Forsberg’s A New Leaf is in the process of being sold to a local woman, who will not be changing the name of the business.

“I am allowing the business name to stay the same because this woman used to own a flower shop and she knows what she’s doing,” current Forsberg’s A New Leaf owner Sarah Engle said. “I have full confidence in the new owner.”

Engle’s grandmother and grandfather opened Forsberg Flowers in Marquette in 1971.

Eventually the business was transferred to Engle’s mother and two uncles. In time, one uncle left the business. This left Engle’s mother and other uncle to run it, which they did for years. When the second uncle retired, Engle stepped up to run the business with her mother. It was at this time in 2015 that she opened up Forsberg’s A New Leaf. Engle has ran the business, located at 201 S. Front St. in downtown Marquette, ever since.

Engle isn’t sure what’s next for her, but she is planning on staying in the area, as she is the producer for the Masonic Arts Theatre Fellowship.

“On behalf of my grandparents, parents and I, we thank the community for their years of support,” Engle said.
