Health department to host clinic

MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Health Department will hold a drive-through flu shot and Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 booster clinic from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Marq-Tran bus garage, located at 1325 Commerce Drive in Marquette Township.

Flu shots will be offered for those ages 6 months and older, including the high-dose vaccine for those ages 65 and older. The MCHD will bill Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurances. Participants are asked to bring their insurance cards. For those without insurance, MCHD accepts cash and checks.

The cost for uninsured children and adults is $10.

The cost for the high-dose vaccine for uninsured adults ages 65 and older and is $30.

In addition to flu shots, MCHD will offer the Pfizer-BioNTech booster for individuals at least 6 months after they received a primary series of that vaccine. This does not include individuals who have had the Moderna vaccine. Individuals are asked to bring their COVID-19 vaccination records with them.

Boosters are recommended for people ages 65 and older, individuals ages 18-34 with underlying health conditions and individuals ages 18-64 who are at increased risk for COVID-19 based on occupational or institutional setting.
