GLADSTONE — The Catch the Spirit Half Marathon will be held Saturday Aug. 24 at the National Guard Armory in Gladstone. The 13.1-mile race, sanctioned by the Upper Peninsula Road Runners Club, will begin at 9 a.m. Walkers will start the course at 7:30 a.m. Trophies will be awarded to the overall male and female winners, while each winner of the individual age groups will gain awards at a post-race ceremony. The entry fee for runners and walkers is $12 for UPRRC members and $14 for non-members, if received by Aug. 10. The feel will be $15 for late entrants.

CALUMET — Upper Peninsula Letter Carriers Association members will conduct their annual meeting Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 5 and 6 in Calumet. A large number from Marquette County will attend. Convention hosts will be Calumet and Laurium members. Registration will begin at 1:30 Saturday afternoon. Officers representing both the national and state organizations are expected to attend, as well as a representative of the Chicago Civil Service regional office.
