Sticker contest to raise funds

HANCOCK — Keweenaw Wild Bird R.E.C. has announced a sticker contest as its new fundraiser.

There will be a youth category and an adult category. Entrants may draw a trumpeter swan, mallard, hooded merganser, common merganser or Canada goose, with the portraits being one of these species or a nature scene of them in the wild. Entrants are asked to use the abbreviation KWBREC and their initials in the design.

Winning designs will be made into stickers measuring 3 inches by 3 inches.

The cost to enter is $10 per design for adults and $5 per design for children. Individuals are free to submit more than one design.

Proceeds will go toward the care and feeding of its KWBREC’s native wild bird patients.

Donations for entrees can be paid through Venmo @kwbrec, through PayPal at

https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=PM9M9YGL7XQNL, or checks can be sent and written out to Keweenaw Wild Bird REC 21176 Boston Crosscut, Hancock, Michigan, 49930.

The entry deadline is Aug. 19. Winners will be announced shortly after the deadline and will receive stickers as a prize.

Entrants should take a photo of their design and email is to keweenawwildbirdrec@gmail.com, or send it in the mail if they don’t have access to a phone with a camera. They are asked to hold onto their original design as KWBREC might need the paper original or a beter photograph is the winning image needs improvement for printing the stickers.

Entrants are asked to indicate their name, age, location and school if applicable along with the design.
