Ishpeming man taken to hospital after motorcycle vs. deer accident along M-35

RICHMOND TOWNSHIP — An Ishpeming man was taken to the hospital Monday morning after his motorcycle collided with a deer along M-35 near Palmer.

At approximately 7 a.m., the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident, which occurred one mile north of County Road MB.

Corey Koski, 48, was riding his 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on M-35 when a deer ran into his path. Koski struck the deer and was ejected from the motorcycle, sending him down the road and striking guardrails on both sides of the roadway before coming to rest in a ditch.

Koski was transported to UP Health System-Marquette for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Police said Koski was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, preventing more serious injury.

Assisting the sheriff’s office at the scene were UPHS-Marquette, Richmond Township Fire and Antilla’s Towing.
