Benefit planned for Saturday
NEGAUNEE — A spaghetti benefit fundraiser will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday for Janis LaFreniere, who recently spent several weeks at Mayo Clinic in Rochester due to a squamous cell carcinoma diagnosis.
The fundraiser will be held at the Negaunee Eagles, located at 309 Iron St. in Negaunee. It will feature a dinner, raffle, auction, live music and more.Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for children 10 years old and younger.
“In February 2020, Jan received a very unexpected diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma on a lump in her neck. She and Lee spent seven weeks at Mayo Clinic in Rochester while Jan received radiation five times a week and chemo once a week,” organizers said. “Due to unforeseen complications, she had to stay at Mayo for an additional two weeks. They incurred significant travel, lodging and meal costs in addition to major out-of-pocket medical expenses.”
