MARQUETTE — Carrie Ann Biolo of Marquette was graduated from DePaul University in Chicago with a bachelor of music degree in music performance. She is the daughter of Brendan and Sandra Biolo, Blemhuber Ave. in Marquette. Biolo’s specialty is the marimba. Last year, she was selected to participate in a 15-day tour of the Orient with the Chicago Classical Symphony Orchestra. Earlier this year, she won a competition among DePaul students for a performance in the DePaul University Concert Hall. A Marquette Senior High School graduate, she will begin graduate work in music this fall at DePaul.

MARQUETTE — Opening date at Golfland, a new miniature golf course and driving range in this area, has been set for Saturday at 10 a.m. The new miniature course and driving range is located on U.S. 41, five miles west of the city. Manager of the enterprise will be Clara Lang, 624 N. Front St. Golfland has been set up for family-type participation, she stated, and features a miniature course with 18 holes and a 10-pad driving range. Junior size putters, and golf clubs for both right and left-handed persons may be obtained. The driving range is suitable for iron shots practice, she said, for golfers who want to bring their own irons. Other clubs also will be available. Mrs. Lang added instruction will be available for persons who have never previously had experience on a miniature course or driving range. A number of obstacles also have been put into the miniature course. A clubhouse has been located on site.
