MARQUETTE–The memory of John Voelker-Robert Traver to his literary fans-will live on through the John D. Voelker Foundation. The foundation was formed last year by two Lansing attorneys and Voelker admirers, Richard Vander Veen and Frederick Baker. The foundation, a non-profit Michigan corporation, will honor Voelker’s contributions to American literature and raise funds to provide legal services to the disadvantaged. The fund will also grand legal education scholarships in Voelker’s name. To aid in fund-raising for the foundation, a signed, limited edition of “Laughing Whitefish,” Voelker’s only historical novel, is being offered for $150. Only 300 hardbound copies are available.
