MARQUETTE -- A Menominee man was cited for failure to yield following a car-motorcycle crash that took place on Saturday in Marquette Township.
The Marquette County Sheriff's Office reported that it was dispatched to U.S. 41 West near Brickyard Road at about 9:13 p.m. A black 2011 Ford Fusion, driven by an 18-year-old Menominee man, failed to yield to eastbound U.S. 14 traffic and turned eastbound in front of a green 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by a 30-year-old man from downstate Portage.
The driver of the Ford Fusion pulled out of the Michigan U-turn just east of the Brickyard Road roundabout and was struck in the rear end by the Harley-Davidson, which resulted in the driver of the motorcycle being ejected and launched into the air.
The motorcycle received disabling damage, and the Fusion received minor damage to the rear bumper.
There was one occupant on the motorcycle and two occupants in the Fusion, the sheriff's office said. The driver of the motorcycle, who was wearing a helmet, was later transported to the UP Health System-Marquette for non-life-threatening injuries.
The Menominee man was cited for failure to yield.
The investigation is continuing.
