NEGAUNEE — With the exception of a few minor details, a major renovation program at the Negaunee High School and industrial arts buildings has been completed, Supt. A.B. Haist revealed today. The program was initiated last fall to conform to recommendations made by the state fire marshal to eliminate fire safety hazards, following his inspection of the two buildings. A final inspection of the project will be made by the superintendent, members of the board of education, and representatives from the Samppala Construction Co. and school architectural firm in the near future. Haist also reported that equipment has been received and is being installed in the hot lunch room at the new addition to Lakeview School. Ceilings have been installed and painting completed in classrooms in the addition. Although the construction program at Lakeview is moving along on schedule, Haist indicated there is little likelihood that the new unit will be occupied during the current school year.
