MARQUETTE -- A man was injured in a Tuesday snowmobile accident in Marquette Township, the Marquette County Sheriff's Office reported. The office said it responded to a single-vehicle snowmobile crash on Michigan Department of Natural Resources Trail No. 14 at about 12:15 p.m. Michael Sampson, 78, from downstate Sterling Heights, was heading northbound on his snowmobile in a group of six snowmobiles. Sampson was negotiating a curve when he accidentally pushed on the throttle instead of the brake. He left the trail and was ejected from his snowmobile. Sampson was transported off the snowmobile trail to U.P. Health System-Marquette to be treated for a pelvic injury.
The Marquette County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Marquette Township Fire and EMS as well as UPHS EMS.
