MARQUETTE — Marquette Senior High School skiers used team depth to cop the boys’ and girls’ titles at the Wendy’s U.S. Navy Top Gun Race at Marquette Mountain.
Despite not having a skier place first in the slalom or giant slalom, MSHS won the boys’ meet with 67 points. Neal Osstyn took home a second and third place finish in the GS and slalom.
In the girls’ race, Marquette finished first with 43 points.Lori Hauswirth won the slalom with a time of 94.98. Kirsten Alburg finished second in the GS (69.22).
“For the first race of the season, it was a real eye-opener,” MSHS Coach Dwight Johnson said, “I was pleased to see us do well.”

ISHPEMING — Bernard Dubinsky, manager of Dubinsky’s Store, has been named chairman of the retail division of the Ishpeming Chamber of Commerce. Dubinsky succeeds Philip Stein. A native of Negaunee, Dubinsky has been a resident of Ishpeming most of his life. He is a 1941 graduate of Ishpeming High School. He has been associated with Dubinsky’s Store here since 1950.
